In a heartwarming display of community, Thomas Trantham, a Vietnam War veteran, received a new roof courtesy of the Roof Deployment Project, a collaboration between Owens Corning, Purple Heart Homes, and Regal Construction.
Trantham, who had been struggling with leaks in his roof, is the first veteran in Arkansas to benefit from this nationwide initiative. The project, involving businesses from various sectors, was completed in under eight hours with a crew of 12 volunteers. Owens Corning’s impact-resistant shingles also mean Trantham will save on insurance premiums, further easing his burden.
The Roof Deployment Project has already helped more than 575 veterans nationwide. For Trantham, this is a meaningful gesture of gratitude for his service during the Vietnam War, a time when many veterans faced neglect upon their return.
Now, thanks to the collective efforts of his community, Trantham can rest easy knowing his home is secure.
